Campaign Press Release 8/18/25

Councilman Victor Rodriguez announced his candidacy for re-election to the Nampa City Council on August 18. Rodriguez was elected in 2017, and has become a popular and outspoken member of Nampa’s City Council.
Nampa changed the boundaries of its City Council districts in 2023. As a result, Rodriguez, who previously represented District 1, is running to represent the voters in District 5. He lives in District 5. He’s favored to win re-election. As a member of Nampa’s City Council, Rodriguez is a leading advocate for public safety, fiscal responsibility, and control over Nampa’s unrestrained real estate development. “Real estate development doesn’t pay for itself,” Rodriguez says.
“It requires taxpayer subsidy, and I’m opposed to that.”
While on Nampa’s City Council, Rodriguez has spoken about Nampa’s need for infrastructure to catch up with development. “We need to solve the problems of traffic and services before we approve wholesale development,” Rodriguez says. Rodriguez opposed approval of Nampa’s Southwest Specific Area Plan. “It added 50,000 vehicle trips per day to Midway Road, and 30,000 new residents in District 5,” Rodriguez said. “That made no sense at all, and I opposed it.”
Rodriguez is a lifelong Idaho resident who served 38 years in law enforcement and retired from the Nampa Police Department as a detective. He joined the City Council in 2017. “I’ve dedicated myself to serving my constituents, not real estate developers,” Rodriguez said. “I hold myself to the highest level of integrity and will always do the right thing.”
Victor and his wife, Delsie, are known in the community. Faith and family values run deep in the Rodriguez household.
So does patriotism. “We don’t kneel for the flag, we stand for it,” says Victor Rodriguez.
