Issues & Solutions

Victor LISTENS to the citizens of Nampa. Their voices and needs come first, and here are the issues he's hearing about:

*   People are tired of traffic congestion.
*   They want to see road infrastructure catch-up with the rate of growth.
*   They want to see streets, buildings, parks, etc. repaired and maintained.
*   As taxpayers they do not want to subsidize growth.
*   They want to see fiscal transparency and accountability to foresee and avert tax increases.
*   They are concerned about preserving Nampa's character and values.
*   They want adequate levels of public safety, including police, fire and emergency services.

(As a former police officer, Victor's highest priority is public safety!)

City Councilman Rodriguez absolutely agrees, and advocates for these solutions when he votes:

*   Support balanced, responsible growth that meets the needs of existing residents

*   Manage development by encouraging infill rather than sprawl, especially for mixed use and multi-family units

*   Regulate zonal growth and expansion, particularly those in proximity to agricultural and sensitive wildlife areas

*   Reduce density in proposed developments
*   Require builders and developers to design homes and neighborhoods according to geographic and land constraints
*   Encourage builders to prioritize home quality over quantity
*   Implement increased impact fees for new developments, along with a one-time development fee to fund additional police

Victor opposes Nampa's city expansion to the west as proposed in the Southwest Area Specific Plan.

He also adamantly opposed the conveyance of the Ford Idaho Center to the College of Western Idaho.
